It’s not common for Windows 10 to run into these kinds of problems, but in some cases, they can occur. The lucky news is that to fix black windows in Windows 10 there are ways. You just need to know-how.

This post will outline options for fixing black windows in Windows 10. So you can get your computer looking just like new again. Try to read the whole article to understand the process.

Let’s talk about the details.

How Do I Fix a Flickering Screen On Windows 10?

Users face this when they upgrade to Windows 10 from any other previous version of windows. But it can happen at any time. There are some ways to fix the flashing screen on Windows. It includes updating your driver or removing troublesome Apps if they are the cause.

Take skin flickering test

It’s likely that the flickering is being caused by a driver or hardware issue. First, you need to know what is causing the flickering screen. For testing, open Task Manager by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc altogether. Otherwise, right-click your taskbar, then select Task Manager.

  • Check the cables and monitors

Make sure to check all the cable connections of the computer. Plug out and then plug in to make sure they are secure. Try to use a spare monitor cable if you have one. Maybe the screen flickering get stops. You can also try a different monitor if you can. To make sure that it is only the monitor that has a problem. This is a small issue, it’s not something to worry about.

  • Correct refresh rate

Find out how many times your monitor can be refreshed per second. Also, find the recommended setting for your monitor in the overclocking section of its specifications.

It’s important to set a decent refresh rate for your monitor. An overclocked refresh rate can cause screen flickering.

If you’re not sure what to do, just leave the setting on default and you won’t have any problems.

To adjust the refresh rate:

  • Press Windows key + I
  • it will open settings
  • click system then advanced display settings
  • use the refresh rate dropdown
  • until the screen flashing gets stop keep selecting lower rates
advanced display settings
  • Display Driver reset

Display driver can cause screen flashing. Maybe your driver is faulty or you have an old driver. Make sure to run the right version for your PC. Remove your display driver and replace it with a working one. This helps ease the problem at the source rather than create more problems in the future. Please follow these simple steps to replace your display drivers on Windows 10.

If it’s still having problems after updating it on Windows, you can also update graphics card drivers. If your manufacturer’s website has them available.

If screen flashing gets solved then the only solution seems to be a new driver.

It sounds like your system has an old driver. There’s no way to troubleshoot at this point other than to ask your manufacturer for help. If you are currently running Windows 10 or if that PC was upgraded from Windows 7 or Windows 8 then remove display drivers.

Remove the driver

  • In a safe mood boost Windows
Remove the driver
  • Press the Windows key and I
  • It will open settings
  • Click on Update & Security
  • Select recovery
  • Click on Restart now, underneath the Advance start-up
  • When the restart gets complete, click on Troubleshoot>Advanced options
  • Then startup settings>Restart
  • Again when the restart gets done, select Safe Mode with Networking.

Uninstall the display driver by using The Device Manager.

  • Press Windows key and X together
  • Select Device manager
  • Click on Display adaptors twice
  • On the graphics card click-right
  • Select Uninstall device
  • Find Delete the driver software for this device
  • Click ok
  • Restart your system
Delete the driver software for this device

Installing a New Driver

Windows update will provide a compatible driver for your system.

  • Press on Windows Key & I
  • Select Update & Security
  • Select Check for updates

Alternatively, you can manually download the driver from your graphics card manufacturer’s website and install them.

Uninstall Problematic Applications

Three problematic apps have been IDT Audio, Norton Antivirus, and iCloud. Remember to check the official websites for the most recent updates. You can avoid screen flickering problems. If you see a screen flickering across all your applications, make sure you’re not running an outdated version of any of them.

Either way, if you haven’t kept up on software updates recently. Go to our support page where we list all relevant issues with their fixes. So that you can avoid screen flashing in the future. Otherwise, you could still have a problem with an app that hasn’t got updated recently. We recommend checking all installed apps for their updates to see if any are causing issues. If so, look up the app’s support page to confirm this.

If your screen still got the issue, uninstall the program

  • Press Windows and I
  • Select Apps
  • Select Sort by
  • Choose Installation date
  • Click the App you do not want
  • Then Uninstall
  • You may have to restart your PC
  • New Windows user Profile

Sometimes Screen flickering gets solved by creating a New Windows User profile.

  • Open settings
  • Select Accounts
  • Go to family & other users
  • Click Add someone else to this PC
  • Follow the system

These steps will fix your screen flickering.

How to REALLY Fix Screen Flickering or Flashing on Windows 10

Screen flickering black

Almost every Windows user has experienced the screen flickering black. After updating your drivers many times over you may be unsure if it was your device or the Windows 10 update. But in any case, there are two key ways to fix the problem.

Rolling Back Drivers

To roll back your drivers, you would need to go into Device Manager. Find the list of installed devices under this tab. From here, you can sort through to find the device that is using the driver that isn’t compatible with Windows 10. Once you’ve determined which device is causing your screen flickering black. Press to right-click to unplug it and uninstall it.

Restoring Your Computer to a Previous State

Resetting your computer will erase any files that have got saved on your computer. As well as clear the majority of the Windows 10 cache back to a default state. This process generally isn’t considered an emergency solution. Because it will remove all personal files from your computer. But if nothing else works, you may have no other choice.

The foremost thing is to shut down your PC. While your PC is shutting down or restarting, press the F8 key and hold it until it turns back on.

Windows 10 will boot back up and continue to be functional.

This is my preferred method. Because it tends to fix the screen flickering black issue for most people, but not all. If the problems after trying both of these methods stay on, contact your computer manufacturer. It’s possible something is wrong with your graphics card or motherboard. That isn’t compatible with Windows 10. If you are still experiencing the problem then you’ll need to either install Windows 7 until this issue gets solved.

Conclusion

After installing Windows 10 it seems to be uneventful until your computer Screen Flashes Black Windows 10. You might ponder that the installation process has something wrong. But actually, this is a normal occurrence. The black screen flashes are spurred by the installation of updates. They’re nothing to worry about. For some, this is a very frustrating experience. While others are more understanding despite it being an automatic driver issue.

This post went over what causes these strange black flashes. As well as everything you should know to handle Windows 10 install updates. I hope this post will help you a lot.
