Enable Spell Check for All Documents

Enable Spell Check for All Documents

Step 1: Open the Document

First of all, you have to open the document you are working on. In some cases, you will see that there are other documents where the Spell Check is working, but in a specific document, it is not working.

Also, in some situations, it is reported that the Spell Check option automatically turns off. In this case, you should know how to turn on spell check in Word. Open the document first.

Step 2: Select the Text

After getting into the document, you have to select the text. You can select some parts of the text. However, if you want to enable the Spell Check for every document, you have to select the entire text. Manually select the whole text. For keyboard shortcuts, use Ctrl + A to select the entire text.

Step 3: Review

Now, selecting the whole text, you have to click the Review tab. You will find it in the toolbar above your text. Click it, and you will get an option where you have to select Language. After going for the option Language, take your cursor to the Set Proofing Language and select it.

Step 4: Select Language

In most cases, Language errors might be the reason for the Spell Check not working. So, here, you have to select your Language. As we are working with English, we are selecting U.S. English. Select your one to get the Spell Check back.

Step 5: Mark it

Now, they are almost done. In the dialog box of Language, you will see some other options below. There are options below that say DETECT LANGUAGE AUTOMATICALLY. Give a tick mark there. Above that, you will see another option named DO NOT CHECK SPELLING OR GRAMMAR.

If you are having issues with grammar checking, you might have unintentionally put a tick mark on this. Take away the tick mark and make sure it is unchecked. Select OK and close the dialog box. You will see that the Pell Check is turned on now!

Enable Spell Check with Shortcut

People are always in a hurry. If you don’t want too much trouble and want to get the Spell Check in word shortcut, you might love to follow easy steps. All you need to do for this is select Alt + F7. By typing this on your keyboard, you will get to see words in the highlighted form.

It will show the first misspelled word in your document. It will also show several options for the grammatically correct substitution for the misspelled word. The first Word that is highlighted will be the correct one.

All you need to do is press enter. If you press the ARROW, the Word will ignore the mistake. If you want to move to the next misspelled Word, you have to press the Spell check keyboard shortcut again!

Enable Spell Check for Specific Document

Enable Spell Check for Specific Document

Step 1: Check it

First of all, get into any of your word documents. You can go to the previous documents. On the other hand, you can also check this thing in a new document. Type some lines and intentionally make some spelling mistakes. Check if Word is marking your mistake or not.

Step 2: Review

If Word doesn’t respond to the spilling mistakes, you have to click the tab named Review. You will find it in the left upper position. To be précised, you will get this on the ribbon. If you are in the InfoPath or the Access, you can avoid this step. If you are in Project, select the Project Tab.

Step 3: Spelling & Grammar

Now that you are already here go for the Spelling & Grammar. In the upper section, you will see an option named Spelling & Grammar. This option might be called Spelling in some cases. Click on the Spelling & Grammar, or if you have Spelling, select it.

Step 4: Dialog Box

Now that you have clicked it, you will see a dialog box. When the dialog box appears before you in your Word, you will see that the program is searching for spelling mistakes. It will show you the first misspelled word in your document with the help of the spelling checker.

Step 5: Check the Next One

Now, you have to try to resolve the problem. Here, you can quickly resolve the misspelled Word by changing it into the correct form. If you think that the Word is already correct, you can ignore it too.

Also, if the Word is right and you don’t want Word to mark it as a misspelled word again, you can add the word to the dictionary of the Word.

You will get options regarding changing, ignoring, and adding to the dictionary. Do whatever you want. After you are done resolving, the dialog box will move on to the next misspelled word in your document. In this process, it will show you all the misspelled words!
